My name is Michelle Zwiener. I currently work as a Diabetes Nurse Practitioner at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk Nebraska. I graduated from Mount Marty College with my BSN. I worked on a general medical and oncology floor after graduation. I then became supervisor on that unit after 2 years. I continue to manage the oncology floor for 5 years. I then met my husband and moved back to my hometown to be close to family. I took a little detour and owned and operated a clothing and makeup store in Norfolk. After about 3 years of running my own business, nursing was calling and I returned to nursing. I took the job as diabetes educator at Faith Regional. After returning to the hospital, I got the itch to go back to school. I returned to school to get my masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I continue to work at the hospital were now I do both inpatient and outpatient patient education, professional education and comanagment of diabetes. I continue to learn and grow in this position.

The itch returned to return to school so after a lot of sole searching I decided to apply for the DNP programs. After looking at the programs and evaluating the time constraints, I decided to apply to University of South Alabama. (The perk to that choice was my sister lives in the area). So in Fall of 2007, I returned to school to start the doctorate program at USA. As a doctorate student, I didn't realize the transformation that would take place as my education.

My husband and I have two children. Sara is 13 years old and is starting the 7th grade. Brandon is 9 and is starting 3rd grade. When I am not studing or working, I am spending quality time with my children.
